>> Is DBZ growing up?

0:12

>> I did.

0:13

>> Nice.

0:13

>> This looks like the, like in Dragon Ball, where Goku had that battle.

0:18

>> Yeah.

0:20

>> Or like the competition, like little baby Goku.

0:22

>> The power of tournament or whatever, the tournament.

0:24

>> I feel like you would know what I'm talking about.

0:26

>> Yeah, yeah.

0:26

>> Like, yeah dude, it's called this.

0:27

>> Yeah.

0:28

>> Dude, come on, that was the mega galactic room.

0:30

>> [LAUGH]

0:32

>> All right, now you just pick whoever.

0:33

>> [INAUDIBLE]

0:36

>> Where's Krillin?

0:37

>> Right there.

0:39

I'm here with Travis Tyler, my man, I'm here with Belaji, I'm here with Isaac.

0:44

Travis, my question for you sir is, how do you create connection and

0:51

meaningful interactions in your marketing/event efforts?

0:56

>> Shout out to Leslie Benette for the question.

0:59

>> Great question.

1:00

>> You have to practice showing up authentically.

1:02

I think for me that involves a lot of self discovery and

1:05

meditation and I know that that can sound like really woo woo and stuff.

1:10

But I started meditating about four years ago, every day for

1:15

about 15 to 20 minutes and it's completely changed my life.

1:19

And that's one of the ways that I show up as authentically as possible.

1:22

The other thing that really helped as you're kicking my ass.

1:25

>> I'm just smashing swear, you just smash swear.

1:28

>> Okay, cool.

1:29

What Krillin's done.

1:31

>> Classic Krillin.

1:33

>> Just get beat up and clean.

1:35

>> Let's go with T.

1:37

>> I want to say that the other part that really helped me,

1:41

that I recommend for any adult regardless of your age or whatever is.

1:47

Do a quick Google search of improv classes near me.

1:50

And I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how uncomfortable you are

1:54

in your first class.

1:56

Do a drop in class.

1:57

I had a friend from college, I bumped into it a happy hour who convinced me to

2:00

do it.

2:01

And I was like, nah man, I don't think that's for me.

2:03

And I loved it and did it for like five years and never looked back.

2:06

What it does is it really allows you to show up in a way that you used to show

2:11

up as a kid with kind of got beat out of you in middle school for being

2:14

different

2:14

weird.

2:16

And it allows you to like now be an adult and be like, I actually want to be

2:19

different.

2:20

And those are kind of the two things that I do.

2:23

>> Meditate and improv.

2:25

>> We're all just people, man.

2:27

Like we all like to laugh and do shit and go out and be silly, tell jokes.

2:32

So like my thing is just like the way I am like on content and

2:38

videos is like exactly how I am with like my daughter and my wife.

2:42

And like the way I'm talking in Travis here when we're meeting in person,

2:46

we're talking chat and shit, you know, like cursing and stuff like that's just

2:50

how I show up on my video content.

2:52

And I cuss a lot and a lot of people.

2:55

And I think it's just these types of things where people are like,

2:58

yeah, it's just like it feels like I'm just talking to my friend like out of

3:01

bars.

3:03

And so and also because of that, when I do need people,

3:07

when I do jump on them for the Zoom call, they're like, dude, I feel like I

3:11

know you already.

3:12

Not just because I watch so much of your stuff, but because you're so just like

3:16

casual.

3:18

And I think over the years, we've kind of confused professionalism for

3:23

like being a walking, talking resume and suit and tie and like now I'm a

3:27

professional.

3:29

Whereas professionalism to me is just like knowing how to navigate the one.

3:35

Like knowing how to navigate a difficult conversation without offending someone

3:39

without offending someone, knowing my CEO has specific quirks and personality.

3:47

So I'm going to adapt to those things when I speak to him or her.

3:51

My CMO has a different personality.

3:53

So I'm going to speak to those things.

3:55

Some people might have a lot of questions.

3:56

Some people might want to get straight to the point.

3:59

So I think communication and all that is a huge part of professionalism.

4:05

Less so than hey, let me like put on this mask and suit and tie and put to yes,

4:10

sir,

4:10

no ma'am, hello, sir.

4:12

So I think it's just really just be yourself how you are.

4:16

Unless you're free, no, I'm just kidding.

4:18

But just be yourself.

4:19

And I think that's how you can actually create meaningful and authentic

4:24

relationships

4:25

with your audience over time.

4:27

It's so easy for us to be like, oh, just show up and be yourself.

4:30

But the reason you stopped acting like yourself is because at some point it was

4:34

rejected

4:34

by somebody who meant a lot to you.

4:37

And they rejected you really harshly.

4:39

And you're like, well, I can't get away with that.

4:41

I can't be like that guy.

4:43

That guy is me.

4:44

That guy gets pushed around.

4:45

That guy gets told he's wrong and not respected or whatever it might be.

4:51

And I think what improv helps you do is just unlearn so much of what you've

4:56

learned as

4:57

an adult when it comes to your worry about getting embarrassed.

5:01

The exercises you do, you're making noises, you're singing, you're really

5:06

looking like

5:07

a dork.

5:08

And something happens after you do it for a long enough where you're like, I

5:13

don't

5:14

care anymore.

5:15

And once that clicks for you and you just have this core confidence inside of

5:19

you that's

5:20

unshakable, it really resonates with people.

5:23

And they're just like, I love that guy.

5:26

He's like the games they have you playing as warmups are just a great example

5:30

of like,

5:30

you're throwing around a pretend ball and doing it as silly as you possibly can

5:34

And the person who does it in a way with no fear and you're not expecting it is

5:40

usually

5:40

the funniest person.

5:41

Yeah, they're funniest.

5:42

Yeah.

5:43

I actually lost.

5:44

Hey.

5:45

Have that ladies and gentlemen is how it's done, bro.

5:50

Yeah.
